A printing factory in the Tiljala area was engulfed by a fire on Thursday morning, resulting in the tragic deaths of a father and son. The deceased have been identified as Mohd. Jasim and Mohd. Jamir. Another son of Jasim is currently in critical condition and receiving treatment at Chittaranjan National Medical College and Hospital.
The fire department issued a statement revealing that it took two hours to bring the blaze under control, with cooling work still ongoing. However, locals have accused the fire brigade of arriving too late, allowing the fire to spread and causing the deaths of two people. The fire started at around 6:30 am, and due to the presence of a significant amount of flammable material, it quickly spread throughout the factory. Printing work for shoes was conducted on the premises.
Mohammad Jasim and his two sons had stayed in the factory overnight to complete their work. Unfortunately, they were unable to escape when the fire broke out, and all three were burned. The bodies of the father and son were recovered from the scene, and the third youth was found in critical condition. Despite being rushed to the hospital, two of them were pronounced dead by the medical staff, while the third is still fighting for their life.
Local resident Mohammad Wasim reported that a plume of smoke and flames had been emanating from the factory since the morning. He and other nearby individuals attempted to put out the fire with buckets of water, but due to the cramped area, their efforts were in vain. Wasim expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of two lives and criticized the slow response time of the fire brigade.
